Shopping with a Camera

I have been known to enter and then exit Joann's without purchasing anything!

I have, however, been known to use my cell phone's camera, or even my digital camera, to help me remember what I've seen.

Click on the picture to see my album called "Sewing Fabric Seen."  This does not mean that I bought or ever intend to buy all of these fabrics, but at least something in each picture inspired me in some way.

Here is another album called "Styles" which contains shopping inspirations, both online and in physical stores.

Do you use a camera when you shop?

PS: I rearranged some albums, and here is the album showing outfits I have worn:

Ironing, Sewing, and Shopping Therapy

Yep!  You read that correctly.  I have been doing some ironing.

I make my pillowcases with quilting cotton.  Some of my pillowcases are so old that I have to iron the hems after they are laundered.

Sometimes I drape the clean pillowcases over a chair until I get around to ironing them.

Here is the result of an ironing session:

Oh, look!  Under the stack is a pillowcase which has been folded and pinned!

Actually, there are two pillowcases which have had their hems pressed and are ready to be sewn:

By the way, I gave myself some post-tax-prep shopping therapy this afternoon.  I spent about $11 buying doo-hick-ees at Bed Bath & Beyond.  I didn't buy anything at JA's, but I did see some interesting fabrics.  I think this one is particularly happy:

These two fabrics seem well-suited for a purse - maybe?

I just really like madras weaves:

I love the pink and red stripe knit (hint: the middle one):

Do you do shopping therapy, and how do you define it for yourself?

Published my first project to craftsy!

I truly believe the Internet is for sharing information, so I finally Posted my Tote Bag Tutorial to Craftsy (click here).  I've added this information to the Craftsy post:

"I started to make these in 1990 when a local grocery store gave a five-cent credit for each shopping bag brought in. The straps go around the bottom, from one side to the other, to hold the weight of a full bag of groceries. Since then, I've improved the instructions and added pictures."

If you try this project, please let me know.  Also, I want to know if there are any corrections to be made to the instructions.

Thank you for reading and sharing my blog!

A Blog about Thrift Shopping

I just found this blog and I hope you enjoy it, too: The Thrifty Chicks

By the way, I'm not the only sewing person who likes to buy stuff from the thrift store for its fabric value. A long dress ten sizes too big for me might become a skirt and top one day. We call it repurposing.
